Ski Week Day 7 -- Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle

I feel bad when I miss a post. Really though, this morning was quite hectic. We woke up on vacation time, had to pack and clean the chalet and then drove to Owl's Head for the 12:00pm-4:00pm ski slot. Here are a few pictures of the chalet, as we left it. I don't have an external one, but it looks quite ordinary outside.

Kid's Zone
Mom the next one if for you. It's reminiscent of something we have at home.

There was a theme to our snow week, apart the fact that there barely was any snow. Perhaps the next picture can summarize it (inside joke, nothing rated R, more like the dancing the kids did).

From the chalet it took us about an hour to get to the mountain. Following is a map of the road to Owl's Head from the chalet.

Now it looks like an easy road, right? Well the GPS I downloaded from my iPhone from Garmin had us go take the 10, exit for the 245 down to South Bolton, and then to Mansonville and the ski centre.

But that's not all.

In Mansonville, almost right under the big sign that said "Ski Owl's Head, straight ahead, 10km", the gps made us turn on a little road that might been faster had it been cleared of snow. It took us longer. Furthermore, we got a "You have arrived at your destination" in the middle of nowhere.

We finally got there.

Owl's Head is a nice mountain. It's very rustic, seems to be family run, and is quite nice. The vue on top is spectacular (as the next two pictures will show). I had an issue with the mountain though. The slow trails are too slow for the kids, and the next one up are too hard for Mathieu (and Ben). Both went skiing with their mothers on the slow hills to find the mojo they lost at the top of the mountain, and the girls and I did the full mountain twice, on intermediate runs. I can tell you that both Sabrina and Kate are going to be very good skiers. Mathieu too, but he was too afraid on the harder ones.

Doesn't look like it but Lily's Leap is all cliff. Too stressful for me with kids.

We left our good friends at closing time to go back home. But just before we celebrated the end of our ski week, we stopped at St-Hubert in Bromont for a last supper which was quite appreciated by the kids. I will always remember Sabrina's face when she was looking at the Chocolate Volcano desert. I think it was the first time we went full desert on them. Thank you St-Hub for being peanut free.

Made it home, short bath for kids while I unpacked the car and then dodo for everyone.

Bizarre.
