A little bit of who we are and what we do, throughout the years. A dose of daily weather and forecast, along with some pictures, memories and children quotes sometimes amusing, often reflective. This is a personal family blog to help us keep in touch and for our children to one day remember all the things we did together.
We've come a long way since I last posted something on this board. We've gone to France, Mexico. Suzanne has become CFO of Rodeo FX (One of the largest special effects company in Montreal that creates effects for shows like Game of Throne, and movies like Thor, It, Valerian, Jumanji, and so many more); Sabrina is now in Sec 2 at Villa Maria and doing really well; Mathieu is in grade 5 and doing really well; Max is signed in with a production company and has one album and three videos out. Last night Mathieu went to see an advanced preview of the new movie Jumanji. The advantages of working for an FX company is that you get to see some movies before everyone else. Verdict is in, it's a fun movie worth seeing (but not as good as Thor)
Sabrina asked Suzanne what type of cake she liked (to which she answered Black Forest). It's a ploy for her to tell Kim what type of cake to make for Suzanne's birthday. So Suzanne asked Sabrina what type of cake she liked. Sabrina answered: Pumpkin cake.
Suzanne turns to Mathieu and asks him the same question, to which he answers:
"I can't really answer your question because I haven't tried them all yet."
Mathieu told me today: "You know, when you drink with a straw, you're actually drinking from the bottom of the glass, instead of the top." Now that seems to be a very simple statement, but it's the actual physical observation from a five year old. A very good one at that.
Today we were visited by a robin with a Jesus complex who needed to literally walk on our pool
Writing
Mathieu asked me to draw this morning. He wasn't hungry. While I was preparing Sabrina's lunch he told me to come and see what he had drawn.
He figured it out by himself. I was impressed, and I told him his mom was going to be impressed too. So he ran upstairs to show it to her:
"You invented the word car by your yourself?"
Mathieu: "Of course I can't invent the word car 'cause it already exists."
Next he drew a pictogram...
Mathieu is a late bloomer when it comes to drawing so I'm proud of every picture he does. Sabrina was very prolific but has slowed down in the past year. Mathieu had to continue with a few more words and some more pictograms.
I know he had help for hat, but I think he was just asked to write cat, which he did.
It has begun.
Dictée PGL 2012
It's official, Sabrina is third place at her dictée PGL. Her friends Kiara and Evelyne are taking 1st and 2nd place. Sabrina was sharing her third place with three boys: Ben, Thomas and Charles. The four had a spelling contest to determine who was the real third place winner. While the boys used psychological warfare against my daughter to make her lose ("you'll never win") she was able to defeat all of them, the last word spelled was "trampoline". So the final winners were, in the right order: Kiara, Evenlyne, Sabrina, Charles, Thomas and Ben. Unfortunately, only the first three won a ribbon, and a gift certificate to a book store. Congratulations, Sabrina!

It's Mathieu's birthday tomorrow and we decided to start celebrating with a cake tonight, along with one present out of his 5-6. I chose the lego pack with 4 stormtroopers and a transport vehicle.
While Mathieu was blowing his candle, he made the following wish: "I wish I had Darth Vader". He does have it, but in another gift he will unpack tomorrow.
When he got his present right after cake, he was ecstatic. When he opened it there was a surprise caracter in there that was not supposed to be there, no marking on the box or on the Internet, nothing. A ten year special edition of.
Mathieu is 15 months and his vocabulary has exploded in the past 2 weeks. He now knows about 40 words, from normal words like "ball", "that", "doux-doux" to tonight's assemblage: "No not that" he said when Suzanne pointed to something he wanted.
We are relatively sure he meant "yes that", but since his favorite words are now "no no no", well ...
Mathieu was really good with "yes" now he's just learned how to say "no". Each time he would see the doctor (great doctor at the Children's btw) he would cry and shake his head yelling "no no no".
This morning Suzanne was alone with Mathieu: "Are you hungry?" Head shakes up and down "Do you want some cereals?" "No no no" He points to the table where we left the St-Hubert boxes last night because of exhaustion... "Chicken" he says "There's no more Mathieu" He starts crying: "no no no"
Saturday morning: Suzanne and Thelma go shopping, Martin stays home and plays with kids
Saturday afternoon: We bring Thelma to the airport for her trip to B.C. and drive to knowlton for Zach's birthday. Really fun party, felt like moving back to knowlton. Kids are exhausted, going to bed almost 2 hours after their usual time. Parents are exhausted but enjoy a bit of time alone before passing out.
Sunday morning: Suzanne goes to work Martin stays home and plays with kids
Sunday afternoon: Mathieu's first trip to emergency, opened eyebrows, a few millimeters from needing stitches instead got glued. Incident happens at 13:15, we're at the Children's before 14:00, we leave the place at 18:00. Coming back home our 14 months old boy passes out and we order some Chicken on the way (St-Hubert). Food arrives a bit after us, we go to bed and Sabrina and Martin pass out.
