CONGRATULATIONS TO SABRINA WHO PLACED 2ND IN HER CLASS FOR THE DICTEE PGL, 3 YEARS IN A ROW. In grade 1 she placed first, grade 2, third and now second. I am so proud of my daughter.

Today started great. Sabrina came to join me in bed a few minutes before 6:00am and we had a farting contest (yes I know, not elegant, but the goal of this site is to remember what we used to do in our lives). I then went to wake up Mathieu who right away wished me Happy Birthday.

Today Sabrina's class was going sliding and I was going with Mathieu's class to see the play "La Chanson de la Mer". Here, Sabrina is sitting with two of her best friends and Mathieu's class is sitting in the theatre waiting for the play to begin.

It was a really fun play to watch. Mathieu has a good class with him. When I went back to pick the kids at school I learned about Sabrina's dictée PGL achievement. Ben, Kim&Pascal's son (our dearest friends) who is in the same class as Sabrina place 3td. We're so happy for him. Kiara, Sabrina's best friend placed first.

Mathieu had a little accident while going towards the car. A piece of metal from the fence was sticking out and he almost took his eye out. It didn't happen and he's fortunate, but it was a real painful experience.

Tonight it's Europea to celebrate my anniversary. I have something really special planned for it. We ate at "La Table du Chef", a special table in the kitchen. A real amazing place, amazing food and great friends.

Mathieu: "Of course I can't invent the word car 'cause it already exists."; Dictée PGL

Writing
Mathieu asked me to draw this morning. He wasn't hungry. While I was preparing Sabrina's lunch he told me to come and see what he had drawn.

He figured it out by himself. I was impressed, and I told him his mom was going to be impressed too. So he ran upstairs to show it to her:

"You invented the word car by your yourself?"
Mathieu: "Of course I can't invent the word car 'cause it already exists."

Next he drew a pictogram...

Mathieu is a late bloomer when it comes to drawing so I'm proud of every picture he does. Sabrina was very prolific but has slowed down in the past year. Mathieu had to continue with a few more words and some more pictograms.

I know he had help for hat, but I think he was just asked to write cat, which he did.

It has begun.

Dictée PGL 2012
It's official, Sabrina is third place at her dictée PGL. Her friends Kiara and Evelyne are taking 1st and 2nd place. Sabrina was sharing her third place with three boys: Ben, Thomas and Charles. The four had a spelling contest to determine who was the real third place winner. While the boys used psychological warfare against my daughter to make her lose ("you'll never win") she was able to defeat all of them, the last word spelled was "trampoline". So the final winners were, in the right order: Kiara, Evenlyne, Sabrina, Charles, Thomas and Ben. Unfortunately, only the first three won a ribbon, and a gift certificate to a book store. Congratulations, Sabrina!

Sabrina wins 1st in Dictee PGL 2011

Considering that half the kids in her class are French, and she didn't speak much French two years ago... Bravo!
