Today is our first real ski day. We're going to Mont Bromont since it's one of the best mountain around. I haven't skied there for a good twenty years now and while it was okay back then, it was not that great. So after some excellent Eggs Benedict made by Kim and Pascal, we are three adults and four kids on their way to the mountain.

There are not many people at the mountain even if we're there late. After a dramatic start (Pascal cuts his fingers on a ski), we start our day.

And we're off.

In one word, we had a great ski day. The kids were all at that point when they ski well enough to go down at a good speed. Ben and Kate are really good, considering that they've been skiing for only four or five runs. They mirror Mathieu and Sabrina a lot. Both Sabrina and Kate work on technique and beautiful skiing, while Mathieu and Ben are into the more extreme stuff, going fast and trying all the side jumps. Suzanne and Pascal are about at the same level. They were all so good the downs were quite fun.

Suzanne had a little low pressure moment at lunch, but she came back okay.

Mount Bromont is a fantastic mountain. While I like Tremblant and the full experience with respect to ski and night life, and love to have a chalet there, one at Bromont might be fun.

All in all a great experience. Thanks guys.

How can I describe supper! We started with salmon tartar and an excellent Ostertag Muenchberg riesling 2008. This is one of my favourite whites, big far.

It was followed by an excellent cassoulet and a great Chateauneuf du Pape that is unfortunately unavailable. It all ended with an excellent chocolate pear pie.

While everyone was tired and crashed relatively early, Kim and I were able to do fifteen minutes of hot tub before I join Suzanne in bed, totally content.

Mathieu had a coughing fit around midnight, but we were able to take care of him by bringing him with us.
