We tried to wake up very early this morning but it didn't work, really. The idea was that we would be on the road by 7:00, 7:30am but we didn't leave before 8:00am. After dropping the salad at Mom's place we were at Sutton around 9:30am. With our St-Bruno season passes we get two tickets each for Sutton, on free, one half-price. So the day cost us Suzanne's ticket only.

Sutton is my childhood mountain. While I learned to ski at Echo (now defunct) I perfected my technique on the Sutton slopes. Except for a few times when Max was a child, I haven't really skied there since I was 16 years old.

And it has barely changed.

When we arrived we took a little bus to go to chairlift #5 because there were too many people on the other ones and the main one, #2, was not working.

The one thing that really hasn't changed are the lifts... I hated them. They were not flat and the slopes were strong enough for us to slide backwards, they were narrow, people fought to get in front of us. Kids needed someone to help them get on chairs because of the violent approach they had. Sabrina lost a ski in mid flight... Really not fun.

After a few downs we went to have a hot chocolate on top of the mountain. It was kind a nice.

My impressions of the mountain... Okay, no more. I hate the lifts with kids and no poles, don't like chairlifts with only two people (there are a lot of those). I like the runs, enjoy them even, but the aggravation I get going up compensates for the pleasure I have going down. I came out of this experience with 0 gain.

Ski Track:

Maximum Speed 52.4 kmh
Distance 9.8 km
Vertical 1402 m
Slope 31°
Duration 04:32:09

Afterwards we went to have supper at Amy's to celebrate Sophie's birthday that's coming up in a few days. We had a great time. The kids had fun, the parents had fun. I find that over the years we've built a very nice family unit and every time we get together is more pleasant then the others.

BTW Amy or Nick can you send me the pictures I took with your phone? I want to put the pictures of the kids eating together on this blog.

Sophie's gift were two wine bottles of the amazing Fleur du Casse 2008, a shining star in a bad year. An $80 dollar wine in a $30 bottle. A rare find, I emptied Lac Brome.

And if you thought you knew See You Later Alligator, In A While Crocodile...

See you later alligator!
In a while crocodile!
Bye-bye, butterfly
Give a hug, ladybug
Toodle-ee-oo, kangaroo
See you soon, raccoon
Time to go, buffalo
Can’t stay, blue jay
Mañana, iguana
The end, my friend!
In an hour sunflower!
Maybe to kangaroo!
Gotta go buffalo!
Adios hippos!
Chow chow brown cow!
See you soon baboon!
Adieu cockatoo!
Better swish jellyfish!
Chop chop lollipop!
Gotta run skeleton!
Bye-bye butterfly!
Better shake rattle snake!
'Till then, penguin!
