Math and skateboard; Village Iroquoien

Every Thursday I would go to Mathieu's kindergarten class to help the class with math. Usually it was Cindy and I helping the kids (see PIO). Here's a picture of Mathieu eating a snack right after math.

Sabrina went on a field trip with her class to visit a "Village Iroquoien". It was quite the success and Sabrina was quite excited about it. Here are a few pictures (Thanks Daniel)...

Miguel and Ben. I just like this picture. What are they looking at?

This afternoon Lea and Daphnee came to get Mathieu and Sabrina to go play with them, and Mathieu went with his skateboard... Cool.

It's cool to have good friends who live just a few houses down. It's even greater when those friends are in the same school (and grade). And Donna and Sylvain are great.

You know when you came back from school...

And jumped in the pool :)

And you were big enough to go by yourself while your papa read on a lawn chair...

Beautiful Sunday

We got to spend it outside... It feels so good... A tender moment between mother and son... Kids running around... We have a great if little backyard. Very sunny and amazingly intimate considering where we live.

I have pictures of the jets that roar on top of our house for the Grand-Prix, but unfortunately, my phone camera was reversed, so I took a picture of me taking a picture of the jets... Next year.

Skateboard Courses

Today Mathieu went to his skateboard courses. He loved it. The kid really has sports in him.

Skateboard

A few months ago Mathieu told me he wanted a skateboard as his "I did really well at school" present. We already found a place where we could get one and some courses to get him started. We went to check it out today, only to find out they had a major "Moving Sale." I decided to get his gift early for two reasons: 1) the kids skateboard stack was going down quickly and 2) they had a 30% sale.

Now I've done a lot of research on skateboards ever since Mathieu out of the blue came out with his skateboard desire and one thing I've learned is that like roller blades you don't buy boards at Wallmart, Toys-R-Us or Canadian Tire (a bit like I learned when I began playing the guitar that you pay the money and go to a guitar shop if you want to buy one... Not Sears!). To get something that's not going to frustrate a noob, they need to be purchased at a specialized shop and you pay the money. So saving 30% on $140 is a good deal.

The next thing I learned is that the skateboarder chooses his own board. It's not something you give as a gift.  So I decided right there and then to advance his EOY gift by 3 weeks. He chose, and even got a quick starter course to begin.

Oh and we did a lot of pool and a lot of outside as well. The pool got up to 87d today.

Sleepover; Oasis

Mathieu stayed the entire night at his sleepover. I just talked to Julie and everything went super well. I'll be honest though it felt strange not to have Mathieu here. Definitely something missing.

This morning we spent time in our Oasis. The girls worked on the pool while I had a good coffee and worked (please note that I've given that pool a good 5-6 hours already).

OASIS

You can see Sabrina working really hard here...

Once the pool was ready we went to Costco to get some stuff. It's always good to be there for the opening. Sabrina is quite the shopper, I tell you...

We went to pick Mathieu up at Emily's afterwards, and only got positive comments about his behaviour which is great. As soon as we got home both kids jump in the pool with their new boogie boards.

Honestly, we spent most of the day outside. Suzanne even worked outside ( so did I ).

The kids went to Lea and Daphnee's place in the afternoon, along with another friend, Jamie who'se also in Mathieu's class (whose mother spend as much time in kindergarten as I do). Suzanne and I worked and relaxed. As I write these words Mathieu and Saby are still over there eating pizza...

Once the kids were asleep, Suzanne and I were able to catch a quick romantic dinner just before a thunderstorm.

We had an amazing day.

Three Cheers; Sleepover

Mathieu got a three cheers today. I'm so proud of him. He's also going to his first sleepover... More on that later.

Mathieu went to a sleepover tonight at his friend's Emily. It's his first one. Sabrina was coaching him on how to behave and what to do at a sleepover (even though she's never been to one). That's what big sisters are for :)

Mathieu away, Sabrina and I went to the delivery window at St-Hubert. There were a lot of seagulls and I closed the sunroof just in time, as one of them sh*t on the car windshield. We had a short dinner then went to watch the season finale of Dr. Who together. Suzanne arrived, we ate a bit and then jumped in the very warm pool until 8:30pm. We had a nice time.

But it's not the same without Mathieu. The house is a bit empty.

Car maintenance

I had to go to Mercedes to get the maintenance done on Suzanne's car. They lent me a super C300 full equipped, very nice. I like the eco drive that stops the engine at every light. Need to get used to it, but real cool. Our dealership is a very classy place.

Now this is what I was drooling over while waiting for the car to get washed... A nice SLK250. Too bad it's only a two place, considering that we're a family of four... Still I can dream.

Sometimes I get a visitor

It happens in the middle of the night, and someone comes to lie down beside me. I'm enjoying while I can, I know soon enough they'll be too old to acknowledge me

Saw this cool Tesla near our house today. That is the coolest car, ever -- totally electric.

PED Day...

What to do, what to do... Apart from the cleaning, washing beds and waiting for BM, the kids are playing super well together. For a while, Sabrina decided she was a Scottish princess, then some Lego was built at the top of the steps while singing duos (mostly Blown Away by Carrie Underwood). What a beautiful day, finally.

Star Trek

Today we went to see Star Trek Into Darkness. Very good but a tad long. Mathieu was dancing on his seat at the end. Afterwards we spent a bit of time in the arcade. Before we left home, Mathieu got his wallet and picked up two arcade coins from Guzzo. They had a lot of fun (and are surprisingly good).

A bit snow, the best of friends

It was snowing in the Townships and raining here, and Suzanne went to Moment Factory to work.

At night we were invited to our best of friends for dinner to discuss our upcoming trip to France. The meal was great, the wines sublime and the company simply enchanting. The kids had such a good time together and we were even treated to some really good piano from Kate and Ben. A perfect evening.

Because I felt like it

It was time to go out to St-Hubert. We haven't gone to a restaurant in a while and I was attracted by a super disgusting yet enticing ribs burger that looked so good. Needless to say I was disappointed for I don't really like the food but hey, I gave it a try. The desserts were a smash :)

Pure Relaxation

Today we relaxed... I worked on the pool. We had fun. No more, but great :) The pool was freezing but I bet Mathieu $1.00 that he couldn't go in... He proved me wrong, as I expected. It reminded me of the times when we were kids and my mom and Gisele was give us money if we dipped ourselves in the St-Lawrence in Rimouski... The tradition continues.
