The world passed a big milestone today, with over a million cases of COVID-19 reported. We'll get over it one day, but it's going to hurt.
One of my work friends made a gloomy post so I had to start a video conference between the four of us (Jeff, Thierry, Aakash and I). They are my friends, my very good friends and it felt good to talk with them. I will initiate more of these short conversations because I need them a lot. I never thought I would need so much social interaction.
I completed the chapter 02.06 - Battle of the Bards draft tonight. Caroline already did a first editing pass. It's a bit silly, as is the entire book, but I chuckle at times when I think about it.
So tonight we have... (Note that per million, Canada has 299/5 cases/deaths, and the USA have 740/18. That's significant.
A little bit of who we are and what we do, throughout the years. A dose of daily weather and forecast, along with some pictures, memories and children quotes sometimes amusing, often reflective. This is a personal family blog to help us keep in touch and for our children to one day remember all the things we did together.

Self-Isolation Day 20(0) - April Fool's :)
We're all working and the kids are doing what they have to do for school. We are isolated, but we are also functional, which is great. Of course today we learned that this self-isolation may last until July so we'll out it goes.
Or maybe it was an April Fool's thing and we're all stuck at home for the next year and a half.
Nevertheless, spirits are high here and were further lifted by Sabrina who decided to hide little pigs all over the house. Every now and then I found one staring me right in the face.
I've reset the total days of pure isolation to 0 because I had to go get our meat and vegetables order at Sevelin.
This is our current count... We went up by 130k in the span of 1.5 days.

Self-Isolation Day 19(2) - Another day
Today was a day spent working and studying. There wasn't much that happened except that this is starting to feel a bit like Groundhog's Day. Suzanne made a "Ca va bien aller" rainbow and placed in the window. Its shadow looked like a smiley face :)
So it looked like a beatnik. At night we played the game Sorry! I won :)
The results for the day, taken in the morning.

Self-Isolation Day 13(3) - Work and some writing
Nothing amazing happened today. I began chapter 02.06 -- Battle of the Bards. The rest of the work day was not particularly pleasant as I kind of screwed up something on the server but I have no idea what. It's okay, I'll solve it but it was a bit frustrating. Today's tally is bad.

Self-Isolation Day 12 - Work and School
Here's a base picture for book #1. I still need to paint it but it's getting there. Tonight I was able to complete the first draft of chapter 02.05, in which Liam and Malga travel to the wrong city and she tells a funny story to get in through the gates.
For work, I was able to complete the code to transfer both spreadsheets and get it ready to set it in the database once the schema is done. I worked from 6:45am to 16:45. At night we played the game "Sheriff of Nottingham." Mathieu won, big time.
Following is our actual exponential infection curve. And it's only beginning.
Today's tally (we passed the 400k):

Covid-19: Self-Isolation - Day 11 - Work and School, and Dentist
We're all working and doing school work. The government has just announced stronger measures whereas companies that are not essentials and that cannot offer work from home systems must close by tomorrow midnight. And Sabrina has a toothache...
That toothache got so bad we had to do an emergency trip to the dentist. It was not possible for him to see the type of damage she had because of her darn braces but he did do a full cleanup.
We both work from 7:00 to 17:00 today. There's not much more to do.
But we got some fresh snow today...
Tonight I added a few lines to Liam's story but I'm still not there. Chapter 5 is more than halfway done though. Today's tally:

Covid-19: Self-Isolation - Day 10 - Last Food Sortie (sortie #5)
For a while, hopefully. With more than a week has given us a good idea of what it is that we need to have to tough it in the long run. Suzanne and I flew to IGA in the later hours to get the food we needed like noodles and basic foods. We were lucky to find one huge 10kg bag of flour. All that food is now in quarantine for a few days in the garage. I was the only one who touched things and I wore gloves. Yet being in close proximity with people is definitely not a plus
We played Contagion again. Sabrina won this time. Mathieu won yesterday. I will eventually win :)

Covid-19: Self-Isolation - Day 9 - Run to the SAQ (sortie #4)
Over the past three years I've been accumulating SAQ (our liquor store) points. Each bottle of wine can add a few pennies to the total points. Sometimes, some bottles can add a dollar (or a 1000 points). I managed to pick up over 1,000,000 points ($1000) I was reserving for one amazing bottle of wine.
However, in fear that the points program gets cancelled, I've decided to cash in. I went to the SAQ armed with a list of wines to get and got for $998 worth of wine. I'm leaving the bottles in the garage for a few days, to kill off whatever was on those boxes. I wore gloves, covered my face, dumped my clothes and showered.
Tonight we played the board Contagion.
