Today we went to see the movie Hotel Transylvania with Ben, Kate, Chloe and Pascal. What a great movie. As usual the kids were good and the experience great.

Karate, pool, Sophie & Cie

It's nice to be able to work all day, finally. The kids stayed at the school daycare today and Sabrina also had karate (it began last week for Mathieu, who's in a lower level class). Then it was time for the swimming course...

Afterwards, Sophie, Chris and Alex came for supper which was really nice. We had such a great time and it was really fun. It's really too bad I forgot to take pictures...

Congratulations Sabrina

Sabrina wins a Three Cheers on the first Three Cheers of the year at school. What happens during the 3 Cheers is that all the students are assembled in the gym and each recipient goes on stage and receive their award. There are usually 2-3 recipients per class. A 3-Cheers is a great honor at the school.

Everyday, both Sabrina and Mathieu do at least 30 minutes of homework and for sure 30 minutes of reading. Here, Sabrina is helping Mathieu with his math homework

Apple Picking

We had fun today apple picking. We drove to Verger Pomme Atout using the iPhone's GPS to guide us. It's a cool place because they use an old firetruck to drive us up in the orchard. And we ate so many apples! Now some pictures in here are from me on my new iPhone, some are from Sabrina's iPod, and some are from Mathieu using my old iPhone.

Dragonboats

Suzanne is on TV this morning. LCN, Radio-Canada... She's being interviewed for the Dragonboat Races that are sponsored by her firm, Fuller-Landau, of which she is a partner. Here are a few pictures from that interview. She's really good.

The event was a success. About $600,000 was collected to help cancer sufferers and their family.

Here we can see Suzanne sitting in front of boat.

After the race we went to drop Mathieu at Emily's birthday party. He had a great time. We had a nice evening with Mathieu discovering he can take pictures with the old iPhone...

SSIAA Cross Country Race; Swimming; iPhone 5

What a day! Today Sabrina is participating in the SSIAA Cross Country Race which is held at the Parc St-Bruno. It's a friendly race between ten or so schools between kids in four age groups, separated by gender. Sabrina has been practicing for two weeks to be part of the race. Mathieu and I were there to help out. The poor girl was really nervous before the race.

On your mark... Get set....

First turn almost done

Almost there

She did it.
We're so proud of her. One and half kilometre run, that's pretty impressive! It took her some time to decompress but after that it was time for a good lunch.

But that's not it! A few hours after it was time for some good swimming lessons. Whoever accuses my kids are not being athletic enough, well, you're wrong :)

Mathieu with his red cap. He can swim really well without a noodle, btw

Finally I got my new iPhone 5! It's such a cool phone and the camera is simply amazing! The pictures above were taken with the phone (full zoom). The picture below is the first ever picture I've ever taken with it. Check out the beauty of the image. My blog will never be the same :)

Sabrina's Birthday Party Surprise

Organized many weeks beforehand, today we had a surprise birthday party for Sabrina with her closest friends Kiara, Megan and Evelyne. We also had their kins and parents over for some play and a wine and cheese.

We wanted the parents over because we wanted to thank them for raising such great kids. There's no question in my mind that had Sabrina not become close to the girls she would not have prospered as much in school. To the girls and their family we owe our eternal thanks.

The day was great, it was supposed to be between 2:00pm and 4:00pm, but ended a bit over 6:00pm. And the look on Sabrina's face when she opened the door to see her friend Kiara was precious. She was speechless for a good 10 minutes.

iPhone 5; Swimming courses

Today I called Telus to order a new iPhone 5. My iPhone 3gs is three years old and it's time for a change. I take a lot of pictures with my iPhone but lately I've been continually running out of memory, taking less and less pictures. The newer iPhone has a much better camera, along with a better GPS system. It's going to be well worth it.

It was also the kid's first swimming lesson today. Both are now so much better! Sabrina is with Ben in her class, and both are best in their class. Mathieu was really good too, but hurt himself, hitting a platform and bleeding from the nose. He's ok, but missed half his course.

Dentist; Teacher-Parent Reunion

I spent some time at the dentist today. Anyone who knows me know that it's not my favorite activity, yet I have to admit that our dentist is really good to us. Today was "take care of Martin" day and to be honest, though a tad unpleasant, the experience was not at all too bad.

Tonight we all went to the parent-teacher reunion at school. All we can say is that Sabrina has a very good teacher (Mme Maryse) and Mathieu hopefully will have a good one.

We are very proud of our kids...

At the campground

Living at a campground is relaxing on many levels. For one, we don't really need to take care of the kids 'cause they run and go all over the place. It also takes you out of the daily routine. Here are a few pictures of that wonderful weekend.

The only negative thing is that we got hit by a hurricane in the afternoon, knocking down trees and the like. Because of the rain we were not able to have some s'mores that night, to Sabrina's dismay.

Our home for the weekend (thx Nick)
Yes I feel as relaxed as I look -- I'm also hiding a beer bottle :)
Sabrina made a new friend...

A Newt

She played with it for a good hour

A good walk, before the storm

It's too bad it was so windy I was not able to fly the new heli I got.

Sabrina got a cricket

She captured it and gave it to Mathieu. Since we were leaving to go camping with my sister and brother, he had to let it go. Still it was a love story.

This picture was taken by Sabrina using her iPod.

We arrived at the campground relatively late that night. Still the kids got to play and have a lot of fun.

FIrst real day of school

Today was Mathieu and Sabrina's first full day of school. I got to work and enjoy a bit of real peace. Mathieu stayed in the green, and Sabrina was the first to use the STAR CHAIR, la chaise des étoiles.

Really cool.

Dinner with friends

Tonight we had Julie and Charles over for dinner with their kids. Emily is Mathieu's friend and they went to pre-K together. The 5 kids had a real good time playing together. They played, did some WII, used the pool and after dinner watched Jumanji while the parents relaxed. It was a real nice evening. Thanks so much Julie and Charles, Emily, Felix and Jeremy. We had a great time.

Thank you for your great Salmon recipe, Ricardo. The wines were excellent too:

Brome Fair

Today is our annual visit to Brome Fair. It was a long trip, the highway was locked down with traffic. We did make it however. Sophie, Chris and Alex were parking some cars and mom was relaxing on the porch. On the grounds we first went to see Nick, Amy and Zach at their camper and then went to eat. We met up with Sue's mom, her sisters Annie and Carol, along with Peter and Jason. Jason is Carol's son, a filmmaker from out West. We made it back to Nick's camper.

Suzanne, Mathieu, Thelma and Peter
Nick and Amy's camper

The camper. Nick is selling pellet machines and RC helicopters (I got one).
Nick gave me a demonstration on how good he is with a backhoe. With the machine he picked up three tennis ball on top of orange cones, place them in a bucket, tipped the bucket and placed each ball back on its respective cone. Amazing. I tip my hat to my brother. I had a video but my card was to filled.

It was time to ride the midway. Sabrina, Mathieu and Zach had a great time on them. First it was time for the bumper cars. Sabrina was a very determined driver.

A run on a super play park, a yearly pleasure...

The dragon, ah, the dragon. One of those moment when you wonder if you're a good parent. Sabrina did not want to go but we forced her because we want her to conquer her fears and do rides if we ever go to Disney again. She was a trooper. After a few tears and some forceful convincing she went on it. She did not like it, did not dislike it ("Only once a year"). Zach kept his arm around her all the time. Mathieu had a ball.

They did a few more rides afterwards...

Coming back to Montreal we saw seven hot air balloons. Real nice.
